Building your collection is probably the most important thing after actually learning how to play TESL. In this guide I am going to give you a lot of different tips & tricks on how to build up your card collection faster, and I’ll assume that you’re not going to spend real money while doing so.
We’re going to start off with some things that you should never do. This is just as important, if not more. Then we’ll move onto some minor and major tips & tricks.
Important to Remember
Only craft cards that you really want or need. Good candidates are cards that are given as rewards for being ranked high on the ladder each season. These cards do not drop in packs so it makes sense to prioritize them. But only if you need them. Otherwise forget about them, they won’t matter.
Soul gems are spent very quickly so always be conservative when using them. Generally speaking it’s not a good idea to craft rare and epic cards since those you can get from packs often. Legendaries can be a bit more tricky since they’re so expensive. I would say craft that legendary if you really need it.
You should also avoid spending your gold on buying packs, unless you really have no time to get packs in another way and there’s nothing else for you to spend your gold on. It’s not an efficient way of getting new cards, but I’ve been guilty of occasionally spending thousands of gold on packs when I didn’t feel like there was anything else to do with it.
If there’s stories, decks and promotional offers in the store, that’s where you want to spend your gold on.
Minor Tips & Tricks
Here’s a few minor things that you could be doing every day to make sure your collection progress is faster:
- Collect daily rewards even if you don’t play that day.
- Complete all daily quests (you can have up to 3).
- Collect Twitch Drops (minimize and mute the stream)
- Get a copy of TESL Bonus Pack.
- Pick legendary cards when leveling by changing your avatar.
These are fairly easy to set up and follow through with. On their own they won’t do much, but put them all together and over the long run you’ll get a lot!
Major Tips & Tricks
Always prioritize buying PVE stories with your gold. You will get a bunch of rewards for completing them as well as learn the game if you’re a beginner. When you’re done with ALL stories in TESL, then you should start using your gold on promotional offers as well as pre-crafted decks.
After all that, you may consider spending gold on the PVP arena as well. I don’t really like the PVE arena but maybe you will.
PVP events you should only do if there’s some extra card back that you really want to get.
They’re not optimal for building up your collection but sometimes they might be ‘as optimal‘ as an arena so at that point feel free to enter. Most of the time you will have all cards unlocked in an event so you can play around and try things you didn’t before.
In the end, the goal is to have fun. So if you want to play that new PVP event with funky rules and you just have enough to enter, go for it! 🙂
These are just tips & tricks on what’s optimal and what’s not.
