This is my personal method of making sustainable income in ESO, without investing too much time or effort into it. It’s really easy and anyone can do it. I would like to say a big thank you to my friend Diana for convincing me to go with this method.
I did consider it in the past but never really got to it, so thanks to her, I’ve been richer for quite a few millions. 🙂
Straight up simple stuff, which is what I like the most about it. Since I’m a player with multiple characters, I always wanted to somehow put them all to good use and fix my often poor financial situation in ESO. Thanks to daily crafting writs (and Diana) I did just that. Here’s how it goes.
Daily Crafting Writs & Rewards
I do all professions, and they are:
- Blacksmithing, Clothing & Woodworking
- Alchemy, Enchanting & Provisioning
This gives me 3,600 gold per character per day, since you get some gold from completing the quests, and another 1.000 gold from selling contents of the boxes, what I don’t need or don’t want to keep.
Let’s round it at about 5.000 gold per character per day for completing the quests. That’s about 40,000 gold just from that and it takes less than an hour for me to do this. Approximately 35 – 40 minutes for every 8 characters. So this method already pays for about half an hour of dedicated gold farming at a great spot that yields top profit. And this is just the beginning.
Then, we have an influx of survey maps that nets me a bunch of plants and raw materials that I refine and keep for future crafting writs. This is the second source of legendary improvement materials since you get those with refinement as well, plus a bunch of other gem stones and improvement materials, like purple or epic ones, which sell for quite a bit nowadays so that’s another gold source as a bonus.
The crafting writs have a chance at dropping legendary improvement materials on their own, some days you might be very lucky and get a lot of them, some days not so much, but generally you will always get some at least if you’re doing 8 or more characters. This is another good gold source in addition to everything that I’ve mentioned so far.
How Much Can You Make?
You can make millions per month easy with this method. I would say that on average, I am getting more than 70,000 gold per day with this method, up to more than 100,000 gold for every 8 characters that I have.
So do the math. If you average 70,000 gold per day for less than 40 minutes, you get a bare minimum of 2+ millions per month, easy. In my experience, it’s closer to 3.5 – 4 millions for me personally, and I’m sure players with more characters get more as well. But wait, there’s more.
That’s right, now you also often get master writs. My main character gets them the most since he has most traits researched and motifs learned (and achievements), so all this contributes towards the frequency of master writs dropping (the amount of writ vouchers is RNG).
But, often other characters get them and I have been very lucky to get writs in the ranges of 250+ vouchers, which sell for quite a bit of gold. So these alone can make you another million per month easily, and all you need to do is post them at reasonable prices (do not be greedy).
Note For Console Players
Some of the things that I will show you below aren’t possible on consoles, but don’t worry, I will give you alternatives and make it just as fast as on PC, with the exception of having to prep a little bit more in advance.
Consumable daily writs are easy, the add-on picks everything from the bank automatically and they’re done. The add-on also crafts automatically at crafting stations for Blacksmithing, Clothing & Woodworking quests.
It’s called Dolgubon’s Lazy Writ Creator and it’s worth configuring it nicely on all your chars. If you’re on console, don’t worry, I got a work-around for you too later on.
I don’t allow the add-on to use rare style stones, only basic ones since all of my chars know basic motifs.
And I make sure that no other character can start master writs, only my main. It would be bad if I had to drop a 250 writ voucher quest because I accidentally picked it up on a char that can’t do it. There are a few more settings to play with, so explore and enjoy.
Alchemy, Provisioning & Enchanting
Alchemy potions and provisioning food & drink is pre-crafted by my main character, and this qualifies as if it was crafted by my alternate ones. So I just make sure that I have about two stacks of the following provisioning items in my bank:
- Apples & Eidar Cheese: Apples, Cheese.
- Khenarthi’s Wings Chai: Jasmine, Honey.
- Pickled Carrot Slurry: Carrot, Saltrice.
- Arenthian Brandy: Surilie Grapes, Lemon.
- Argonian Saddle Cured Rabbit: Small Game, Saltrice.
- Sipping Imga Tonic: Ginkgo, Lemon.
- Lilmoth Garlic Hagfish: Fish, Garlic.
- Hagraven’s Tonic: Ginkgo, Ginger
- Hearty Garlic Corn Chowder: Corn, Garlic
- Markarth Mead: Barley, Metheglin
- Firsthold Fruit and Cheese Plate: Jazbay Grapes, Cheese
- Muthsera’s Remorse: Bittergreen, Metheglin
That takes care of provisioning quests and the add-on picks it up automatically. Alchemy requires potions that are either ‘Ravage Health‘, or the basic ones that restore Mag/Hp/Stam.
Pre-craft one or two stacks of those, deposit in the bank and it’s sorted for a long time. Alchemy also requires Lorkhan’s Tears & Nirnroot so stacking up on those is nice. This will change in the future so less Nirnroot will be needed, and that’s good because the prices of this plant are going up and I have to check guild stores every now and then for good listings and buy in bulk. And I don’t like doing that.
Enchanting is also simple. I just automatically craft a simple glyph at an enchanting station because at the moment, it’s not possible to stack them in the bank (Zenimax, please!) and the rest is picked up from the bank by the add-on. Enchanting requires all 3 types of rune stones, so make sure you have Ta, Mag/Stam/Hp essence ones and Rejera & Jehade (cp150) in your bank for this.
So those are all the things that you need to have in your bank in order to complete these 3 daily quests real fast. It might look as much, but it’s not really, it’s just a bit of materials + some pre-crafted potions and foods/drinks. Now let’s take a look at the other 3.
Blacksmithing, Clothing & Woodworking
This requires a steady supply of style stones for motifs that your characters know, and a lot of materials of course. If I see a good deal on any material (has to be cp150/160), I’ll buy it in bulk, but the survey maps and raw ones that I get also help offset this so I don’t have to buy as often.
Add-on crafts automatically so no issues there, just make sure you’ve got all the mats in the bank. I do all of these in Morrowind (Vivec City) because that’s where all the crafting stations, the bank & the reward containers are very close. I try to go for as little loading screens as possible, and constantly upgrading your mounts while using rapid retreat is very recommended. 🙂
Console Players Rejoice
Not all is lost. If you’re on console, you will need to spend a bit more gold and time to upgrade your character’s inventory to as much as you can and then just pre-craft a bunch of stuff and put it in their inventories. This includes all the consumable writ stuff that I mentioned above, and also for the last 3 professions, stacks of all apparel and weapons from each profession.
The good thing is that they don’t require traits (for now at least), so you can pre-craft everything with one character, put it in the bank and pick it up on another character. It will take you longer to set it all up, but you will actually spend less time running around and picking up stuff with each character. So you can actually do this just as fast on consoles but the setup takes a long time, plus gold. Think of it as a big investment if you’re serious about it.
I am considering doing this too, to try and save another 10-15 minutes overall and not craft a thing for a whole month or two. But remember that this also means you will need a ton of more materials if you want to make a few stacks of everything on each character in advance. The idea is to supply each character with sufficient quantities of quest items to last them for a few weeks while doing dailies, daily.
Not impossible, but very hard to do. That’s why there’s not many who are doing it.
I think I mentioned most of what needs to be mentioned, but I’d also like to say that this method requires a little bit of setting up. Leveling all professions on all characters is extremely painful and boring. I remember those days very well. Plus, it can cost a lot if you want to do it faster like I did. I probably spent a couple of millions of gold just to get this done. But it did pay off, many times over.
Then, hunting for materials and making sure it’s all in the bank (or chars), upgrading character inventories (in case you’re on consoles), upgrading bank if you need more space etc. there is a lot of things to be done to set it up, but it’s very worth it in the end. It’s not for everyone though. Only the most serious, greediest & patient players out there will take full advantage of this setup.
One more thing. This method requires that you go and collect a lot of skyshards or skill points in case that you are also looking to actively play any of those characters. If you’re just looking to use certain characters to generate gold, then you don’t need any extra skill points other than the ones you get from leveling to 50.
ESO gold farming doesn’t have to be tedious, it can be very enjoyable and relaxing if done right.
